The suggestion has been made by several members that we assign a specific channel to operate on. This way folks can monitor this channel for local XJers when traveling. Any one have a favorite?
Feedback requested.

Alrighty then.
Let's just pick a channel and go with it.
Who knows when we might need to give a shout out.

I thought it was channel one, that's the finger they keep waving at me...
Anyway, see my new thread, so I can get the CB installed, tuned, and do more than sit in the driveway and play C.W. McCall 8 tracks and go 'vroom vroom' a lot.. Doesn't matter to me what channel, 4 is fine. I suggested channel 69, but someone pointed out, I can't get it up..that high. ;)

Too much chatter on four I think we should go higher, say 20 through 30. When you get too close back to 40 you start to get bleed over from the lower ones. We did use #26 when we were down at the NAXJA event, to talk in town as we passed by each other. This was a # DavidB picked.

I have to be honest. The reason I picked #26 is because it was my number in football  . It did, however, work quite well and we were able to pick each other up throughout all of Moab and a little beyond. My vote is, heck, #26!

I'll second that because it's close enough to my jersey number 24.
However, if you can't reach me on 26 i'll probably be on 24.
I'll just have to practice it over and over.
26, 26, 26, 26, 26, 24 oops!!, 26, 26.......

Following our experience at the dunes last weekend.......we may want to rethink Channel 26........seems someone with a 50,000 watt base station is hogging that channel. :gee: :looser:

I guess I won't be too disappointed if we change it :rattle: . Trial and error my friends. Lets try a few different ones in Moab and see which one works the best. You are not going to have the same results as you travel from area to area anyway.

Wrong......No matter where I've been that Joker with the 50K base station is all over it. Clear as day. I wish we could put a tracker on him and pull his plug.

I was talking to a truck driver once on I-15 by Beaver and he said they think he lives in Delta and that he drinks a bottle of Jim Beam every time he cranks up his system, he'll talk bad about your women when he gets real drunk, now this was comming from a truck driver heading south when I was going to AZ.

Agreed that this solution works for short range chat, but I recall that the original idea included a channel that we could monitor in our long range travels.........cranking up the squelch may eliminate signals from those the you DO want to talk to in this scenario.........just pointing out the obvious.

Y'all might want to check out 34. Thats the channel me and my buddys have used and its always quiet. When I worked for a big trucking company in Montana they used it for there company channel because it was always the most quiet.

Doesn't really matter to me however my vote is that we choose the channel we used several times last summer on those unofficial trail runs that ultimatly led us to the creation of this Chapter.
Channel 28

Well, they say if ya yell really loud in those canyons, and it echoes, that's almost as good as a paid for CB...
