I DID IT!!! it was the hardest thing ive done yet!( but damn was it worth it)
theres nothing worse than a 2.8.
what year is your s10? is it computer controlled? you really need to keep the TBI its well worth the trouble.
advanced adapters has almost every thing youll need, but their motor mounts didnt work for me(moved the motor to far forward ,hit radiator)
youll need a bigger radiator, also with my 7" lift the oil filter hits the front drive shaft, youll need a relocate the oil filter.
fuel injection specialist has the wireing harness for this swap mine was almost 600.00 (best moneyi spent on this conversion)
my 4.3 was in a 96,blazer ALL computer controlled
I really need to know more about your motor before i can help you.(YOUR GONNA LOVE THE POWER)
let me know whats up Brian r

good to know

my s10 is a 92 computer controled I ordered aa motor mounts today hope thet work for me.. :repair:

The 4.3L Chevy vortec is a powerhouse & lightweight & small dimensions. I have a 95' 4.3L with the 4L60E tranny in my 94' Wrangler I'm selling. It would be a good idea to use the tranny as well because it is computer controlled in later models. Plus the 4L60E is a great 4 speed tranny with a 31% 4th gear reduction. I have headers, crane cam, and a K & N cone filter on mine with 4.88 gears and the jeep is very fast with 33" tires. The 4.0L jeep motor is good too, but it is very long and not just a bolt in to a wrangler or cherokee. The 96' vortec had the multi port fuel inj., my 95' had CPI inj.

They might, the AA mounts willbolt in the same factory holes ,but this did not leave enough room for the stock mech, fan withch i reallt wanted to run.
your computer is not stand alone,so you will need the wireing harness, from fuel inj. specialist,at the time painless did not have this harness.
After about six months of trying to adapt the old harnes, with no luck.i orderd the right one and had it running in 15minutes.
the 4l60e is agreat transmision but its wide, youll need to modify your tranny tunnell,(with a big hamer).
youll need a inline fuel pump and hook it to the computer.
Also the motor mounts mount the motor to high and the hood wont close because it hits the tbi cover,(think hood scoop)or lower custom mounts.
I know this sounds like alot, but you havnt even started yet :greensmok
ask me any questions you have and ill try to answer them,
YOUR GONNA LUV IT!!!! see ya Brian r.

Thanks

I am doing the same thing except going carburated. Wanting to know what, if any fabbing did you have to do to get the complete motor/trans/and case to bolt up to the chassis and driveshafts. I got a complete 4.3 with 5spd trans and t-case from an s-10 to put in my 86 2.8 XJ. I am planning on getting to motor mounts from Advance Adapters, but further than that its all pretty new to me.

teh carbed motor swaps are so easy these days. just run a couple of wires and your done. nuff said. that is why im droppin a 4 barrel 350 in my xj

Gotta disagree on this. The Wrangler was designed around the AMC/Jeep 4.2L I-6 engine, which is the same block as the 4.0L. The 4.0L is very much a bolt-in for any Wranglers that didn't already come with it. The chassis was engineered for the engine, so it is the epitome of a bolt-in conversion.
