Is there a metric size that comes close to a 30x10.5? I have a BB and want bigger tires but would like to be wider than a 30x9.5. Going to a 31 means a bunch of $$ that I really don't have right now. Any ideas or do I just get 30's and deal with it?

As far as metric I'm not sure... but Super Swamper has lots of odd sizes. You may try looking through thier site. Good luck

255/75R15s work out to roughly 30x10.5". I've seen an off brand tire this size on a stock XJ before. Pirelli makes the Scorpion A/Ts in this size. Thats a good tire if you want an all-terrain (I run a set). Hope this helps.

i just bought a set of kelly tires........the 31x1050 is a six ply and the metric one was only a four ply.....so you may want to check on that as well if you save on the price you may lose the savings if you bust one

Thanks all!! I'm debating AT's or MT's. Depends on whether or not I get a teaching job closer to home (8-12miles) for next fall. With my current ride to school I'd burn up MT's really fast. we will know that by June.

My sister just got four 29"x10.5" trXus STS for her TJ. They're very quiet on the road, have a good life expectancy, and are as tall as my old 30" BFG ATs were when new. They're *awesome* in the snow and on slippery pavement, but she's only had them for 2 weeks, so you'll have to wait till Michigan thaws out before we can test them in mud and such. $91 in the magazine ads. I highly recommend them over any bargin-brand AT. :D

They dominated the powder up at camp last weekend!

I tried to make them slip by stopping on a steep icy inclines in the pseudo-roads around camp and found that I had to gun the engine to get an slippage at all and even then they would quickly find traction and launch me up the hill. I was MOST impressed! :D

Cool!! I was wondering about those!! If you could, Pm me when you have a chance to run them on wet roads. I'm sure they'll do ok in the mud/slop I have around here. If I could get 30k miles I'd be happy as they will only run from April to November here.

Hmmm, I got your PM, but I don't seem to be able to reply. Oh well. Here's the message:

I'm 1/2 hour south of Detroit. The weather report says that today and tommorow are the closest we're getting to a thaw (33*), then it's getting cold again. Certainly not enough of a warm up to expect any rain. ;-) When the warmer weather does hit and you don't hear from me, send me an email and ask how they're doing.
My sister's TJ is bone stock (4.0L/manual) except for the tires and rims. There are some more pics at http://www.picturetrail.com/petermontie in the "new tires" folder. We got her tires at a local Discount Tire. I brought in a 4x4 magazine and showed them the National Tire and Wheel ad, which they matched plus mounting and balancing (which is not included in the ad's price). Most people with the trXus MTs have estimated 40K or so out of their tires, so I imagine the radial STS will be comparable. I think the tread pattern is kinda odd looking on the 44" variety, but looks darn good on the mini-meats.

I'm about to get them, the TrXuS 31x10.5 with the good ol' tax return. The cheapest I have found them is for $101.?? a piece at www.samsoffroad.com. If anyone has a better price than that, post it.
