Well that pretty much sums it up. I have recently bought an 86 Cherokee Pioneer 4dr with 350 Chevy V8 conversion and TH350. 2in lift, 31" A/T's.
I have been into second gen. camaros (1970-81) mostly and now i like my Cherokee as well and plan on learning much more about XJ's.

Welcome! For a noob, you are starting off pretty well, you already have an XJ that has dealt with the main shortcomings for that year Cherokee.

Thanks for the responses. I am currently waiting for the front axle actuator to arrive to get the 4X4 in working order. And i am considering much lower numbered gears to make it highway friendly for the 35 min trip to work everyday. it originally had the 2.8L V6, AT so i think the gears are around the 4.11 to 1 and up. my wish list is a slightly larger lift, 33" tires, 700R4 trans, dana 60 rear, 44 front, then back to the 4.11's or 4.56's. and as long as i am wishing it will be painted black or dark blue instead of the current "creme" color.
