Code PO171?

Says Fuel system for Bank 1 was too lean (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylender 1, while bank 2 ID's cylender on oppisite Bank). What the heck is Bank 1? And why is it saying Bank 2 is opp Bank when its a straight 6? TIA Jeff CamoXJ

First check for an exhaust leak, then test your O2 sensors. Does this explain how it works a little better?:

sweet thanks, I do have the manifold crack that many other XJ's have. I'll have to check later to see if its opened up. It was cracked all the way around but I'll look that first tonight. Would that cause this problem? Jeff CamoXJ

It could throw off your O2 sensor, but that means a LOT of exhaust escaping thru that crack. Has it gotten a lot louder lately or anything? Could be a bad O2 sensor as well.
