Idle problem

hmmmmm....

My XJ has been having problems.... off and on of course. No check engine light either.

When I try to start it sometimes it won't hold idle. It just dies. If I force it to hold idle by giving it gas it will keep running, but if I let my foot off the gas it will rev down & die. If I get it into gear & drive it a little it will hold idle by itself. Sometimes it starts right up with no problems... Sometimes it will have this problem even after it has been driven & "warmed up"...

WTF? Thought?

Dirty TB and/or IAC, MAP sensor issue, dirty air filter, TPS is toast-- do a search, you're the zillionth person with this problem...

TPS is newish maybe a month old...
I'll tyr the other stuff...

How's the fuel pump? Fuel filter? Lines aren't crimpt(sp) any where?

Bad battery, battery cables, bad connection or ground. Mine did just this after forgetting to tighten down the positive battery cable after maintenance.

New optima. year old HD cables.....

But like I said ..... only when it's not in gear.....

Not sure on the pump or lines ... but it is fime if I rev it up high so I know it's getting fuel....
