Here's what was discussed at the meeting. Good to see all those that attended. An e-mail was sent out also with the attached minutes.
As always, if anyone has ideas or such on how this Chapter should operate or events planned, please post it up.
NAXJA Intermountain Chapter Meeting
1/17/2004 3:00 pm.
In attendance: 16 drivers, 12 current NAXJA members.
Discussion:
Committees: Discussion was made on forming committees to help with Chapter business and events. Sign-up sheets passed around for participating in the following committees:
- Fundraising Committe
- Land Use Committee
- Events Committee
- Social Committee
- Sponsorship Committee
These will also be posted to the Chapter Forum for those that would like to participate but couldn't make it to the meeting.
We discussed fundraising and ways to earn Chapter revenue. A discussion about charging an initial, one time only Chapter due of $10.00 per Chapter member to generate funds for Chapter business was mentioned. At the end of discussion Jeff Turner made a motion to put the $10.00 due per member to vote. Kim Casper seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous to put the motion in to effect.
Chapter Treasurer will set up a post office box for the funds to be mailed and post the info to all interested and current members as well as on the Chapter Forum. Chapter Treasurer will also set up a non-profit account at a local bank or credit union to secure said funds.
Jerry Harrison offered his shop in Brigham City to use to raise funds by charging a small hourly fee to use his facilities and all of the tools he has. If there was interest, he would follow up with a kind of "Adult Education" program at his shop whereby a member could pay $50.00 or so and use his shop 4 or so Saturdays. This would cover his Districts cost and leave some funds for our Chapter.
Other fundraising ideas were brought up. Kim C. has contacts for producing Chapter T-shirts, stickers, decals, etc. Encouraged everyone to submit ideas for a Chapter logo that can be used on said merchandise and post it to the Chapter Forum for discussion.
Discussion was made on local land use ideas. Suggestion was made to Adopt A Trail in the area or maybe two, one for northern members and perhaps one for those that live south.
Also discussed Moab event in april. Event will take place April 23rd and 24th, Friday and Saturday. No trails were discussed but everyone was encouraged to think about what trails would be run and potential trail leaders. Also discussed was having a raffle for donated merchandise at Chapter events to generate funds.
Chapter meeting ended at 4:45.
