Does anyone on the list know if Dana 44 scout axles will fit under a cherokee?? Are there any major mods to make these work?

welll, for startes you;d have to switch to a pasenger drop t-caes.

Reason I was asking is I just found a front and rear set with 4.10's for $100

You can bolt a dana 300 up to your aw4 (if that is what you have). In fact as long as you have a 231 the bolt patterns are the same. Then you could use the axles. I am sure there will be a lot more to deal with but it would be possible.
