using other jeep shocks...???

I was just wondering if it was possible to use shocks meant for other jeeps like TJs or YJs? They look awfully similar to the XJ ones... the only thing other than length that I think could be a problem is maybe theyre valved different for a lighter vehicle??? any help or comments would help a great deal... Thanks guys and gals!!!!

Stock height shocks for the TJ and Xj are within a quarter of an inch of each other in lenght. I sold my old raunchos to my fater in law for his TJ when I lifted mine. They bolt right on. If you have a lift it is best to measure and order some the right lenght. I don't know about valving, just universal types. HTH
