Unlike K&N's FIPK, the filter is sealed off from underhood heat at all angles so at anything over 25mph, the intake air temp. is the same as ambient. The whole contraption cost me only $60 ($48 was for the filter) so that's a major saving over the K&N FIPK, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I used my creative talent to make it. :woohoo:

totally awesome setup! I was wondering if you can post the pattern of your shapes and the dimensions so we can cut some cardboard too? Thanks!

It's been 22 years since I finished high school and 17 years since I graduated from university so I don't think my special ed teacher would even recognise me anymore. ;)
I have the patterns for the shapes of my heatshield in the write up on my website but I'll need to get the dimensions and add them.

While we are on the subject on air intake setup, does anyone know what size diameter on my throttle body 2000 4.0L 4dr Cherokee? I believe it is 60mm, I found a site that has 62mm, (cant remember where) does that make a better flow? More importantly, does it make a difference? ;)

Head to Dino's site, he has the answer your looking for...and more

(its 60 mm up top, tapering to 55 mm below the butterfly, and yes, you can buy 62mm ones, but i personally would go custom...)

NP

By custom I mean pretty much what Dino did. Make a 62mm Buterfly (or in my case, 58mm) and take a junkyard TB to a machine shop and have them bore it to said mms and throw your new butterfly in then bolt it on, it cost Dino 11$ to do his 62mm TB, and once I do mine, ill post the details and price.

They have to be hosted, then you go to the IMG button above the text box and enter the URL of the pic.

Does that make sense? lol.
