Raising power window manually???

segibbs

NAXJA Forum User
It appears that the regulator on my 92 XJ's driver's side power window is kaput.

I've got the trim panel off, and would like to manually raise the window till I can fix it or get it fixed (rain is coming soon). Is it possible to do this?

Thanks,
Stephen Gibbs

theres a bolt that runs through the glass connecting it to a rod. undo that nut and you can raise the window. then you will have to shim it (careful puttin pressure on the glass) or tape it to get it to stay.

i had the same problem yesterday

I took a piece of welding rod, hooked it under the window, pulled the window up (after removing the nut) and bent the rod over the window top near the vent window area. Worked better than tape or shims, been there done that.
