Near Nevada City (Molakoff Diggin's). Meet at the Horseshoe Bar park and ride @ 8:00am, leave @ 8:30. Go east out of Sacramento on I-80 to Loomis and take the Horseshoe Bar exit, then turn left at the stop sign.
Once we get a head count, I'll rent the cabins. This could also be a day trip for those who don't want to stick around.

I haven't had time to call yet:(
The cabins are basic (made to look like what the goldminers lived in) all have built in bunk beds and have wood burning stoves. I'm going to pay for them as a thank you for the help with the Winter Fun Festival.

I will only be able to go for the day but that should be OK. I told Keven that I would lead the trail for WFF this year if still needed. I have been on the trail for two years now and we need all the help that we can get. I will see you there bright and early.

Hopefully I'll be joining you all too. What do we need? I'm open so should I bring chains (2 or 4)?

WesternXJ
November 14th, 2003, 09:59
Lisa called the park and they don't take reservations:confused: . It's first come, first severed. I guess we'll take our chances?
Please bring fire wood and warm clothes.
Basalt, I don't think there will be enough snow up there to warrant chains.

You guys mind if I join you in my grand cherokee? It has a 3" lift and 31" all-terrains. My xj is bone stock and not quite ready to wheel yet. I can come for the day, I live in Citrus Heights so I will not need a cabin. What kind of trails are you guys going on? Do you think I can make it, or do I need 33" muds?

33" muds??  I'm going to roll up on my 235s and no lift on a longbed MJ! But that's why I have towpoints, straps, and a Hi-lift. Stockers are fun.:D

So how about one of these?

I'm trying to get my friend to go (and buy a cherokee) but it is stock. Good four-wheel drive, BAAAADDD clearance.

I have a 3" lifted Grand Cherokee with 31" all-terrain tires. It has a rear hitch and rear tow hook, but I don't yet have any front tow hooks. I'll try to get them on for the run. My xj is a totally stock Se model, so I'd like to wheel the grand. What do you guys think. I really want to join you. I have wheeled this jeep before and can keep up with 4" lifted yj's, it is pretty capable. Please advise.
thanks...Troy

does anyone know the snow conditions?? are we going to have to b looking for snow?

also i built mine is coming with his rig!

stoney

WesternXJ
November 21st, 2003, 13:10
Troy, you could bring either rig. This isn't a trail but Forest Service/County roads. There probably isn't much snow up there (6 to 12 inches).

I can't stress this enough: Bring fire wood.

As of right now here in Kingvale, there is 8" of the white stuff, all powder = good traction. The storm is coming in to-nite should be very cold but not leave much on the ground. It will be great. I unfortunately must stay here and plow the stuff, so I'm going to have to miss the meet.:(

"Crazy" if you will PM me with a snail mail address I will send you a disc with all the photos I took. The group shots are great! When you get the disc, you can pick and choose which ones you want to post. I'll burn the disc tonite and can put in the mail tomorrow.

I posted what pictures I have here:

http://pages.sbcglobal.net/basalt51/cherokee/SnowRun11-22-03/

Unfortunately the white balance was set to Tungsten for most (oops) so they are a little blue :(

We had a great time Thanks to all!

So if we want to help out with the WFF what do we need to do? It looks like all the Sunday trails are pretty easy so no real special equipment needed?

WesternXJ
November 26th, 2003, 20:31
Great pics '51.
Picture those trails with 3-6 feet of snow.
For WFF, go to the Cal 4 Wheel web page www.cal4wheel.com and click on events, then go to the WFF page and download/print out the entree form. Make sure you write "Sunday trail crew" at the top and include the appropriate funds.
PM me if ya need more info.
