This is a big step forward for NAXJA, but one that will allow us to concentrate on things other than constant password updates. We are now into the 21st century, forum-wise.
This 'new' style of forum takes a bit of getting used to for some, but the features and ease of maintenance for both the users and the admin make it well worthwhile! The decision to adopt this style of forum was made by the NAXJA Board of Directors, so please don't freak out on our volunteer support staff.
I want to thank the Webteam for their very hard work keeping the old forums up (it was a huge PITA) and for helping us through the transition to these modern forums. We all owe them a big round of applause for their dedication to NAXJA!

Let me just say that I was against change but I can live with this layout. I think this is in the best interest of NAXJA as a whole and brings our club website up to date. It really makes sense to have all our forums in one place and in one style of BB. I thank the webteam for all their hard work.

The change rocks. I loved the old forums, but, alas, they lost compression and the main bearings were shot...
...This much better. Good job guys, have a beer.

I like the change and am glad I will now be able to lose my password and fix it myself.

I think I'll reserve comment until I have some time to get used to the new layout, but it doesn't look too bad so far. I liked the "at-a-glance" view of updates on the threaded format, but this could work...
BTW - how does one go about getting an Avatar built?

I'm flexible. I liked the older format, but it's the folks not the format that keeps me coming back to this forum.

Just go to your profile and either upload a URL (?) for a pic,or choose one of the selections already provided for you.

...and to think, the original forum style had me confused to high heavens at first. I got used to them, and then came to really like the layout. Oh well, things change.
Keep up the excellent work guys!

I saw the ones with names, and figure they're personal. What are the numbered ones - is there a place where we can look at them?
Also, what are the limitations on custom pix, or are they automatically resized?

Just click on the "user cp" icon, when the page changes, click on the edit options icon. When the page changes again, scroll down and find the avitar thing and click under it where it says "more info". This will take you to the selectable avitars. You have to use one of the pre-selected ones until you get 101 or more posts, and yes, they will be automatically re-sized,so get a good close-up shot of what you've got or it'll be too small to be legiable. I think that's the way it should work anyhow :anon:

Is there anyway to make it so it doesn't look like something I left in the toilet?
I mean anything but brown:anon: <------- the bag is brown. May I suggest silver or dark blue. Even orange would look cool.

Brown?
where do you see brown?
fat, take it from someone who went to Notre Dame for ART graduate school (making masterbation hand gesture)
what you are seeing is nto "brown" rather, an alegorical representation of the dessert open spaces in a variety of "russets" and "sepias"....
does that make it better?

Ok Beezil, I'm not an art person. I think art is a naked woman:eek: . Anyway lets just say it's rust colored and from a vehicle standpoint I don't like rust color.
So is there any chance that we will be able to change the color scheme like on www.michiganjeepers.com or is it stuck. Did Rusty's pay NAXJA to make it Rusty color?
The only brown I like is Beer, wood, and UPS because they bring presents.

XJGuy - how about we just beat 'em? :D
Yeah, I see no need for change either (and voiced my displeasure on the member's board - the only original one left) - but, before anyone accuses me of hiding out, I figured I'd better make the comment openly on this homogenized, oh-so-cute format board.
No knock on the Webmeisters, though - they do a heck of a job!
(BTW Scotty - ND is liberal? This coming from a Missygan resident? The only thing we're liberal about is how we try to run up the score most years over the Wolverines).
I guess this board isn't too bad, though. No two door XJ avatars - but GSP and TPKE ones!!!!
Grudgingly yours,
Mike in NJ :patriot:

This is the color it is, and will be.
Nobody paid NAXJA to make it this color.
Every site chooses their colors. This is the chosen color here at NAXJA for our forums.

Is this a "color" or an excuse for no color ;)?
Not to bust anyone chops, but is this background color depressing (or seem like some reformatory project graphic)?

739 currently signed up here.... And I bet just about every one of us has an opinion on what color he/she thinks it should be.
I think it is fine as it is right now. Everytime something is changed, people come out to say they do not like this or that.... it is human nature I suppose.
The forum works... I am happy. My opinion is let the color thing go... let the web people concentrate on the rest of the tasks ahead of them. There will never be one color combination that makes everybody happy.

Oh.. and a shrubbery... but not too large.
Or... we have the web guys change the colors every day. That way, in almost two years... chances are each person would have one day with the colors they want. Hmmm... runs off to fill out a suggestion to the WebTeam...

What the heck is "fuschia"? G,I think you've been hangin' with the ladies a little too long
woody
March 31st, 2003, 19:47
IIRC Fuschia is that plastic stuff that they make car bumpers out of these days...it makes great kindling to start camp fires with green/wet wood, especially if ya have a can of WD40 or spray paint.
Come on up to the hills of Uwharrie, we got all the fresh fuschia you care to harvest locally, or ya can pick your own along the way.
woody
March 31st, 2003, 22:03
forgot to mention...Fuschia is found in nature, normally along roadways, usually in proximity to guardrail terminators, utility poles, solid mailbox posts, bent road signposts and trees in sharp corners. It is commonly acceptable to pick this fuschia up for personal or medicinal use...BUT is is bad form to pick it 'unripe' from another's garden (mall parking lot)
When recycled through combustion, fushcia is beneficial in a number of ways: It creates heat (which many humans enjoy) and an unmistakable plume and odor (Hunter...back me up here) that travels up through & around ones microclimate and has been known to repel mosquitos, ticks and yuppies, this effect is more pronounced when waste oil or spray paint is added in appropriatly available quantities.
Once emitted to the macroclimate, it blows generally east and falls into the ocean as particulate matter through precipitation. This valuable particulate byproduct embeds in marine life and when those orcanisms expire or are otherwise processed through ecology, their effluent floats magically to the bottom and turns into MORE OIL FOR US, LATER ON!
Just like our recycled beer cans turn into ALCOA/MT Wheels, properly recycled fuschia provides a source of sustinence for our progeny. Fawk the Canucks and their (illegal in the lower 47 for mildly psychotropic concerns) biomass projects...we got fuschia!
