I'd be even more of an XJ guy if someone would buy my TJ. I'm just really anxious to get back on the trail, and I'm not even really "off the trail" right now, figuratively speaking ... I mean ... I guess I am, but its a state of transition, you know?

Its moderately equipped. I've already explored the possibility of trading it in, but I'd be selling myself short at least 2-3k as equipped. Parting it out first is an option, but a hassle that I'd rather not deal with.

Great looking rig!

I've been looking (GASP) at the idea of changing things up a bit myself LOL.

I love my '99, and you're right, you get soaked on the traded bad....

This is our current "family" XJ. I'm going to take it over completely when the TJ is sold. I'm hoping to replace the TJ with a Disco for Jen if I play my cards right, but that still depends on a few things.

This was my last XJ that I got rid of because I wasn't happy with the build-up. Traded it in for the TJ back in 1999. I don't regret that, but now I have a family, so I've come full circle. :)

Yep, I just want to have my way with our XJ and get back on the horse. I'm jonesin' a little bit, ya know? :)

What is the longevity of a used Discovery like? How many miles are too many? ... particularly for a late 90's model?

I know my way around the 4.0L Jeep well enough, but I don't have any experience with any other vehicle with any other motor/drivetrain.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with TJ's. I don't have anything against mine. I just want more space, and more comfort options. I commute half way across Pennsylvania once a week, and ... well ... enough is enough. :)

A four-wheeling enthusiast is defined by his vision and sense of adventure; not by his vehicle.

Will it be wheeled? If so go early '99 or older. If not, then a late '99 (DII) is sweet....the Tcase has no Center difflock on the DII's so it sucks LOL....they also have a Crossmember located so that the driveshaft hits over 2" of lift connected.

They are BIG.

To cruise around they're super sweet and quite neat...to wheel....well, they're big LOL. The overhang on even the DI's is sucky.

The V8 is underpowered (my lifted '99 XJ with 3.55's and 32's SMOKES Georges DII and REALLY SMOKES Jons DI)

The axles are 10 spline with CV's....

Boy, not making much case for them am I LOL???

They are super cool though....if I was building a Rover, I'd build a Rangie...

Hehehehe If I had to drive my XJ across PA once a week I'd cut my tongue out and stick it in my ear.

I do 50 miles a day and I'm counting the days until we close on the new place and I'll have a 4 mile round trip commute!! LOL!

I don't know about you being a true xj guy, you look like you have been wheeling before. :D

Anyhow where are you located? Would you think about becoming an XJ OWNER thru a trade/cash deal for my 98 XJ. It's got lots of stuff on it. email me if interested in talking more. PS don't tell anyone I'm looking at a TJ. :D

Must be a California thing. She'd get arrested for driving around topless in New England. (This time of year she'd be might chilly, too.)

Yup.

I still have the TJ. I'm not advertising it too aggressively though, so its kinda understandable that I still have it. Most of the easy bolt-off accessories have been removed, leaving the Atlas, Rockers, Gas Skid, and Suspension.

Once a couple remaining items are removed (such as the optima, tire carrier, etc), I might entertain the idea of trading it in, again. I just dread the process of finding a buyer, and doing the whole private sale thing. Thats probably why my advertising has been less than aggressive.

I just want to prep the XJ for trails and get back on the horse.

Anyone want to buy a set of IPF lights? They're nice - they're the S9614B, which retail for $300 - I am selling for $200, bottom line. I like them too much to ask for any less than $200, but I can't envision a use for them. They might just end up on a shelf, saved for later, which is cool with me.
