Hey dudes, who's going to JV with us in April? SeanP, is your junk going to be ready? Andy, are you going to find a governmental excuse for whimping out? :p

Mil is cooking his famous Carne Asada on Sat night, and needs to know how much food to buy. Please head over to the SoCal forum to answer Mil's poll if you're going to be there, and to get more info about the run.

Are you guys going to get there in time to do a Friday evening run? :D

Going to be down to the wire for me. To top things off, we just bought a new house and have to sell the one we are in now.

I have to get my drivelines readjusted for the Atlas, get my brakes bled (hopefully no MC swap is called for), order and mount my new 38.5 SX, clearance my floor pan around the Atlas....

...aww, nevermind, there is no way I am going.

So......where's CRASH? :)

Is anyone else planning to go?

Sean, it's a bummer if you don't make it, but I understand about both major rebuilds and new houses. We moved last year on Memorial Day weekend. Remember me getting calls about offers on our house on BOTW last year? I'm sure glad that is all over, we had a somewhat difficult time with both the buyers and the termite inspector, and it cost me a few $K to get escrow closed. We ended up having to close on the new place a couple of weeks before we could close the old place, which was a major float on the down payment before we got the equity out of the old place. But, we really like our new place and are very happy we moved. Good luck with selling and moving,

Richard,

My stress level is about 11.5 on a scale of 1-10. We too are floating the new house before the old one sells. It's to the point that all my jeep mods are going on the credit card because I need every cent to do this. Add to this the fact that our existing house needs a new roof, master bath and dual pane windows and I am in major freak out mode. Oh yeah, did I mention that Marni is pregnant and we are going to one income in August. I think I just aged 5 years.

But, I am going to try pretty hard to eat some of that Carne Asada in April!!!!

We did a refinance out of the now rental to pull the money out for our new place that was hectic too but not as bad as selling, we were past escrow nearlly a month before everything finally fell into place. We looked at homes that needed a little work and in most cases the discounted price wasn't much more than the materials to fix it. Of course consult with your agent, but I would do as little work to it as possible, get a 5yr roof cert or something like that. I definatly wouldn't do the windows either. In this market people don't have the option of being too picky. My brother in law just sold his house they asked 10k more than they and the realtor thought they shoud and they took an offer higher than their asking price in a week.

Good advice. I have a broken window with cardboard ducttaped to it in the kitchen. The roof leaks and wouldn't be eligible for a roof cert. I agree with the hotness of the market. I know that we are going to sell for nearly twice what we paid in 6/2000

Jeez, I've been looking at the old forum for over a week, it was pretty slow over there!

Yes, I'm going. Still trying to convince wifey to head down with me. Are the NorCal boys up for leaving after work on Thursday?

I had that same problem when I came back, everybody told me just to log out and in and no worky, then followed the links around and found my way back. After work on Thursday works for me.

Talking about stress......

I hate to admit this, but I went to the hospital in an ambulance at midnight on Thursday night two weeks ago. Yeah, the night before I left for JV . I started to get a little pain and tightness in my chest at work that evening, I thouht I was getting a little bronchitis. When I got home, it just kept increasing, and when I went to bed I was really uncomfortable with real pain and presure in the middle of my chest. I laid in bed, no way I could go to sleep, for about three minutes and finally told myself that I better do something. I got up and did a search on heat attack sypmtoms and got a good site. It gave a list of symptoms, the first being that most often there is pain, tightness, and pressure in the middle of the chest. I thought "oh s!ht, what am I going to do now". It said don't drive or have someone drive you to the hospital, call 911 because you will get treatment much faster. I'm 52 and my Dad had a heart attack at 48, so I thought I'd better be concerned. I swear, it took me 5 minutes to get the nerve, or the urgency, to dial 911 (man, that was hard to do), but I did, and then I woke my wife up and told her what was going on.

I didn't have a heart attack, and I didn't have a colapsed lung, which I thought was a possibility if it wasn't a hear attack. I've had a couple of colapsed lungs, but it's been fifteen years since the last one, and I went through surgery then to fix it. After doing all of the tests and X rays, my heart was fine but they said my chest lining was inflamed, and to take aspirin, use an inhaler, and take it easy for a couple of days. The doc said it was related to my previous problem (and could be a little like asthma) which showed up when I had seriously overdone it and was over tired, which was the case after all the work on the Jeep and the house that I had been doing for the last month, and especially the last two weeks getting the rig finished for the JV trip. I was VERY glad to hear that there was nothing serious wrong with me, and on the drive home from the hospital at 3:30 AM I thought that I would probably make the JV trip the next day (I had to play it real cool with wifey :D ;) ). I skipped work the next day, finished a couple of minor things on the Jeep, and left that afternoon for the desert. By midday on Saturday I felt completely normal.

Anyway, Sean, sort of a long story to say pace yourself and don't over do it. Of course, you're not as old as I am..... ;) But, I can say that I went wheeling the day after going to the hospital in an ambulance. :D

Eeek! Richard, that must have been like a scary panic attack. I know that by the middle or end of April everything will be a lot easier. It's just going to be some tough deadlines before then. The good news is that I see light at the end of the XJ tunnel. I am down to steering, trackbar, driveshafts and bleeding the brakes. I hope to be able to go out to our Prairie City ORV area to test out all the suspension mods, etc, before going to JV.

Glad to hear that everything is alright. I am sure a couple of nights of camping under the stars will help relax anybody.

Richard, glad to hear all is well, thats not fun stuff.

SeanP sounds like you are definatly right, those are things that need to be done. We were in a bit of a rush too getting our home ready to move in, and getting renters in the other house at the same time. I stressed about it a bit particularily after the first renters backed out at the last minute. Anyway what ended up happening is the house set empty for a couple weeks or so. I lost about $700 of rental revenue because of this, and that was stressful because I was looking for another renter. However it did make moving in the new house much easier, and doing the little preperation the rental needed.

anyway the moral to the story is if it means eating another $1000 in intrest to let it sit for a month while you do repairs (which are easier when you are moved out anyway.) it might be worth it just to not put yourself under so much pressure. You are smart though you know you can only do what you can do and its not worth sweating the rest.

BTW one of my brother in laws are the handyman types, for hire, actually two of them, one is the particular excellent job type, and the other is the fast not so particular type, you probably allready have connections but let me know if you want their help.

BTW, also you probably know the market traditionally heats up in the summertime so delaying a month isn't an especially bad thing

And another BTW call me when you need help with something.

OK, so Nor-Cal crew, do we want to meet up and caravan down? I would like to leave Sac at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon on Thursday, April 10 (Happy Birthday to me!), pick up my boyfriend Loren in Gustine, and then fly on down to JV, hopefully getting in around 9:00 pm or so. Jes sounds like he is taking an alternate route.

Is Farmer Man showing for this shindig? Or is he too busy polishing his rig?

Goatman, when do you get off work on Thursday? Wanna roll down with us?

I still don't know weather or not I'll make it for this one. The wife goes in for minor surgery on the 9th. I probably won't know untill that week if it's a go. Besides, I've got about 10 more coats of wax to go before I'm happy with the shine. I've also got to wait for the LED tail pipe I ordered last week. The rig just isn't trail ready without it. I know I won't make it down thursday if I go. It probably won't be untill Friday night before I make it.

careful towing boys. I got pulled over by CHP doing 70 coming back from JV in november. It was one of the code enforcement guys in the dodge ram trucks. Tough to come up with a good excuse when I had the radar detector on the dash board. No ticket, but just by the skin of my teeth.

Don't feel too bad. I got a ticket just this side of Bakersfield towing my junk down to JV earlier this month. He rote me up for 65 on 99. I was just cruising slow looking for the turn off to get to Goatmans house. I had commercial big rigs blowing my doors off & this guy decides to nail the poor chump on vacation towing his toy. $400 later & traffic school yet to take, I'll have a clean record again. It sucks that they double the fines if you have a commercial license.

I heard somewhere that they won't let you take traffic school if you have a commercial license. I got pulled just north of Fresno, probably pretty close to your exit.

Hi guys,

Just got back from four days in Yosemite........the Ahwahnee Hotel sure is nice.

I have to work till noon on Friday, so I won't be able to join you guys for a run that day. If you left early on Friday, I'd hook up with you, and then run a quick trail late Friday afternoon and evening..........night run on Sledge, anyone?? :D

Curtis, Mil, probably Andy, and maybe a few others will be there all day on Friday, so you'll have someone to run a trail with. Mil was going to drive up that morning, probably should pop over to the SoCal forum and set something up with him for Friday if you guys are for sure going down Thursday afternoon.

If you guys are mostly coming from Sacramento, I'd stay on Hwy 99 rather than I5. It's shorter if you're going to go through Bakersfield to hit Hwy 58 east. Be sure to hit Mil's poll on the SoCal forum so he knows how much food to bring for Sat night's dinner.

How about Wreaking Ball on Saturday?
