CRASH and I will be heading in from the Tahoe side and running in to Buck Island Lake where we plan to camp out for two nights, then complete the trail on Sunday. Should be a nice relaxing Saturday where people can fish, hike, or go play up in true sluice.
Be prepared for the possibility of snow on the trail, deep water down by Rubicon Springs, and the dreaded High Sierra mosquitos. :D
Minnimum requirements are as follows...
Full size spare, jack, and lug wrench.
First aid kit.
Fire extinguisher.
Spare front shafts(unless running alloys)
If you have a D35 bring spare shafts for it and know how to change them.
Spare steering(if stock).
1 locking differential.
Proper tow points front and rear.
Tow strap.
A working C.B. radio is highly recomended.
When the date gets closer and we know who wants to join us we'll make plans for where to meet and such. It would be nice to get on the trail by 10:00 A.M. Friday morning so we can take our time getting to Buck.

Damn Jes, I thought I made strick rules. Front axles that don't have alloys, I haven't ever had alloys or carried front axles ever.
Isn't that what replacement ujoints and a welder is for?
You mean you won't replace a d35 axle for me?
Does the locking differential need to be in the pumpkin? How about one in the t-case?
Is that full size spare in both directions?
Yes I'm bored on a saturday afternoon giving you SH!T!

I got an email this week from Keith in AX (with the yellow heep with heavily trussed axles). He wanted to know when we were going up, so i will alert him to this. I am sure his group will want to run BLT and Fordyce also.
I cannot even afford 4 tires right now, let alone 5! sheesh. I don't need a spare if I have hummer beadlocks and runflats and patches and baling wire, do I?

I'll be there, plus some of the SoCal guys have said they want to go, and maybe a couple of friends from Bakersfield. You mean we're going to have to play in Little Sluice on the drive out, when I'll still need to drive all the way back to Bakersfield? :D We'll need to get an early start on Sunday......

Nothing is set in stone, if we want, we can camp out at Spyder Saturday night. I just like to avoid that place on the weekend as it's become the "party zone" and you get a lot of people blasting loud music all night.
We still could run in from the traditional way(through Gate Keeper) on Friday, spend the day at the box then head down to Buck. All the best stuff(trail wise) is between Soup Bowl and Buck anyway IMO.
I'd just like to do what the majority of people are interested in so that we can all have a fun trip and enjoy ourselves. :)

But Jes I don't see anything in your rules about being able to change the direction of the run. That may need some more equipment to be brought along! :D

I say if Old Man Hinkley won't run with us in JV than he can't run with us at all. Jes, if I break an axle will you change it for me? You could be my travel buddy if you want. ;)

You just need to schedule better.

Sir, it is a quite well known fact that it is impossible to be a serious four wheeler if you are not at the hammers. Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle. I am having a joke at your expense, sir. Moab is a fun and challenging place to four wheel.

Well I hope a few of you will still be up for a Rubicon run July 14th & 15th. Coming out from Idaho to get married and the wife to be wants to run the Rubicon afterwards :D She even wants to learn how to weld... see why she's a keeper  Anyhow, hope to have at least 1 more Idahoan XJ coming out with us, maybe 3 if all goes well.

I plan on joining you guys for the Rubicon after all. The plan with the local club did not work out (not enough interest). I'll be brining along two other rigs though (a TJ and a Scrambler). Both drivers have run the trail before so they know what they are in for. It'll be interesting to run the trail backwards... Just can't wait!
I assume more details will be posted regarding meeting time and place for Friday AM - right?

Anybody notice in the new JP, it says that there's a 'Rubicon tour for first-timers' June 18-20th? I wonder what effect that'll have on this trip and the trail.
