Do the Crysler 8.25 axles have different spline #'s? If yes how do I determine the # of splines my axle has. Thanks for the help.

8.25 used 27 splines in the Cherokee up to '96, which was a running change year. According to ARB, '97 and later have the 29 spline axles. I have a '96 (DOB 10/95), and it had the 27 spline.
Only way to know for sure is to pull the cover and count.....
FYI, I bought new axle shafts from Randy's Ring and Pinion for less than I priced the junkyard replacements. 27 vs 29 are direct replacements, except for the spider gears (I wanted an Air Locker, so that is why I changed). Might as well replace the seals and maybe wheel bearings while you have it apart, cheap insurance for later down the road.

Yes the 97 and up have 29 splines on the 8.25.
Also the axle is a little beefier. 1.21". (vs. 1.17" I think was the pre 97 thickness).
Good luck-
