No I don't mean the kind that plays the greatest hits from the Dukes of Hazard:D

Wondering about the one that is in the stock air intake. My 2.5L YJ had one that I tore out. I hear it's in the 4.0 as well but have been much to0 lazy to take a look in my XJ. Does this thing help smooth out the airflow into the engine or is it using Barnouli's principle to cause a pressure drop/velocity increase for some reason? Or, as it is rumored, does it just restrict the airflow into the intake manifold.

The only real noticeable effect ripping mine out had was a whistling (spelling?) noise when it's run wide open. I did it in conjunction with a borla header kit, high flow cat, and a flowmaster so if there was penalty or benefit it was masked by the exhaust upgrade.

If you mean the venturi in the air intake, yes, the XJ has it too. I think i't using that bernoulli principle to put vacuum to the fuel tank vent.
