New XJ owner here. Just curious how much lift is needed to fit 33s under the XJ? It's an 88 with a S10 'bastard pack' in the rear and has 31s on it right now.

2.5-3 inch lift and trim with you give you the perfect uptravel and downtravel that you need

I've heard that over 2" you need to extend brake lines and mess with driveline geometry. What else would I need besides the suspension components?

Our 88 is running on 33x10.5's on stock wheels, full stock fenders and flares.
Lift is a full RE 3.5" plus rear boomerang shackles that added 3/4" - 1" and front coil spacers that added 2". It sits level, tons of break over clearance. Tires tuck up into the flares, they rub on full flex but don't rip the flares off. Tires rub lower control arms just at full turn.
