97'+ abs and none-abs shaft

Is there a difference, aside from tone ring, between a late model d30 none-abs axle shaft and a late model d30 abs axle shsft?
Also as far as reading, tone rings can be knocked off right?

Not sure on later stuff, but I know the earlier non abs had smaller u joints than the abs ones. And yes tone rings come off with a drift and hammer.

I put 98 abs shafts in my 89 housing. I had to knock the tone ring off cause it contacted the bearing and wouldn't spin. Everything else is the same tho. The abs shafts I have use 5-760 ujoint
