Guage cluster not working

Hello all, I just picked up a 2000 xj last weekend for 900 bucks. It runs incredibly well but I cant figure out why the gauge cluster isnt working. The back lights on the cluster work, the warning lights work, but the gauges do not read. Is it a corrosion issue on the plug itself? Or should I be looking elsewhere. I cant see any dangling unplugged wires anywhere.

Yes.

I'll bet the airbag light is lit as well?

Hit the top of the dash as hard as you dare right above the two A/C vents and watch your gauges come back to life.

(Disclaimer: if you do this and something breaks it's your fault for following my bad advice.)

If you snoop around here a bit you will find quite a few threads addressing the problem.

Good luck.
