to anyone with a 350 conversion w/ efi-- where to mount the new fuel pump?

I have a 350 XJ... originally, because I didn't know any better, I went with a carb. After stalling out over a dozen times on the trails, I pulled the trigger on a holley terminator EFI.

I no longer have the stock fuel pump, so I went with the holley "master" kit that includes a fuel pump and line. Question-- to anyone that's done this or something similar, where did you mount the pump? It's an in-line pump, and obviously I want it as close to the tank as possible, as low as possible, and also out of the way of any errant rocks/debris.

Any thoughts?

Maybe on the inside of the frame rail, where an early model fuel filter is? protected by a simple sheet metal skid?

Electronic fuel pumps are "pushers", so the closer to the tank, the better. If its possible, I would build it into the tank.

Believe it or not the factory 4.0 pump is more than capable to feed a V8.

I believe it. But I've long ago ditched the factory pump when I put the carb'd 350 in. I'm just going to use the in-line fuel pump that comes with the holley kit.
