Fuel injector upgrade list

Here are four web sites for fuel injector info. users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm ,www.fuelinjector.citymaker.com ,www.witchhunter.com/injectorcalc1.php ,http.//www.rceng.com/technical.htm They all have fuel injector flow calculators to use to compare P.S.I. to Lbs/hr. I also have a 2000 XJ 4.0L with rough idle from poor injector performance! I believe the injectors that some jeepers are using are from 1996-2002 Dodge Caravans with 3.3L and 3.8L v6s. EV6 dark green injector 0280155789 and EV6 light green 0280156007. Both are Bosch 4 hole 21 lb.@ 43.5 psi.according to the charts that I have found. When converted to 49.2 psi they are 22.334 lbs/hr. very very close to the specs. of the factory 04854181 blue tip injector of 22.5 lbs/hr. 236.5cc/min. Hope that helps some !

You can find plenty of injector websites to get flow charts to play with the numbers ! But it is hard to find what injectors are on which cars ! The injectors from 1996-2002 Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager on 3.3L and 3.8L V6s are EV6 and plentiful in junk yards and seem to fit the specs. that we need for the 4.0L. The 0280155789 dark green and 0280156007 light green are rated at 21 Lbs./hr. @ 43.5 psi and 220 cc/min. so at 49.2 psi they are rated at 22.334 Lbs./hr. and 234.73 cc/min.very very close to the inefficient blue tip 04854181 injector we have at 22.5 Lbs./hr.@ 236.5 cc/min.

1996-1999 (0280155789) dark green - 1999-2003 (0280156007) light green. Both injectors are from 3.3 and 3.8 V6s. Both are Bosch 4 hole. Both have same specs. of 21 Lbs./hr.@220 cc/min. Maybe some kind of internal design change of electronics or upgrade ? I dont know! But I do know Chrysler is very very slow about giving up proprietary information! Especially electronics! Maybe an ASE certified mechanic guru could chime in with more ? Or Talyn could answer since he is really the expert of this topic!!!??? I do agree with Talyn about (784) and (703) being to rich for stock usage!

Thank guys. I picked up a set of reman 789s for under a $100.bucks. I noticed if you shop for mini van injectors they seem to be less in price than if you look for upgrade injectors.

Have you installed these yet, just curious if they work ok? I have never heard of using the 789s or 007s. All though I am using 917s with no problems.

Some fuel injector flow ratings from online don't always match. I've had fuel injector sellers (some in the fuel injection business more than 20 years) provide me with different & higher flow ratings from their Bosch book.

e.g. 0-280-155-784 __ 21.3 lb/hr _ (@43.5 PSI) __ 223.9 __ 161 __ 43.5 __ 3.0

Bosch Book specs provided - 23.6 Lbs/hr. @ 43.5 PSI

Most of my vehicles have used carburetors. The XJ is my first MPI fuel injected vehicle. I didn't pay much attention to the fuel injectors until a seller sent me a set of 4 hole injectors, when I had ordered a set of OEM's.

The ones sent are EV1 4 hole Ford injectors, (0-280-155-715) with a flow rating higher than the OEM's. Better power, response and starting but I think effected fuel economy. I swapped back the OEM's to compare and haven't drawn any conclusions.

I don't know how accurate some of the online data and specifications are. Here are some specifications taken from online sources.

You may also want to consider an injector's estimated horse power rating and duty cycle for the type of driving, load, etc.
