Just got a 2001 Limited with infinity sound.
1. how to tell bad unit v's bad amp?
2. Only have the rear speakers?
3. which amps can I replace it with? ZJ?WJ? mini van?

XJ Cherokee front door wire harness issues are very common. Simple use a known good speaker to test the head unit output. Diagnose the problem before you start installing parts.

Did you test at the head unit, at the wire plug just inside the body, or at the speaker connector ? 12 volts shorted to the door will shut down the speaker.

Not to be redundant, but you checked the wiring in the rubber accordion tube from the door to kick panel(you'll have to pull it to one side and remove tape)? Many people have had cracked wires there even though it looks good at the back of the speaker.

Yup. I have had to rewire the 2003 grand and thus this was the first thing I checked

Do I do this with a volt meter etc or is there a special tool for this? Thanks
