Modified Crank Position Sensor

I'm getting my flex plate replaced next week by a local, reputable shop, that's done good work for me in the past. I'm going to have them replace the stock CPS since the trannys going to be dropped anyway. Is there any advantage to modifying a CPS for a few degrees of timing, on an automatic transmission? I know the OBD2 wants to do what it wants to do and will most likely end up doing what it wants to do! That being said, I'm just looking for a little more pep since Im still on stock gears. And if a little piece of metal and a screw will do it, then I'm game. I'm at sea level if that makes a difference!
