Using U-bolts with u-bolt eliminators

Has anyone installed u-bolt eliminators but continued using their U-bolts with them? I've been thinking about this for a while and haven't seen anyone do it..

I don't plan on using straight bolts because of axle wrap concerns, so doing this would just be a fail safe in case I get in a bind and can't source new U-bolts in a timely fashion or a very unlikely trail repair.

I can't see any negative side effects of doing this, but maybe I'm overlooking something?
