Yes, it can. With OEM parts, maybe. It may or may not be a cost effective solution to the problem you may or may not be having.

Usually electronic shift motors attach to mounting points on the transfer case. Since the 231J does not have any it won't be as simple as bolting on a motor, wiring and switch. Personally I don't trust them. Provided the linkage's bushings are in good condition and the linkage is adjusted correctly I know it will be going in gear and which gear.

If you are speaking of 4wd actuation... don't bother. Those motors fail often in the wk's.
