Odometer not showing

Hey guys, been awhile since I've been on this forum, but I'm back to the xj family with my 4th xj. I just bought a 1998 sport xj, and he claimed that when he put the new head unit in, the odometer, gas gauge and temp gauge all stopped working. I did a hold the trip button diagnostic and all the needles worked as normal, but yet when it's time to start her up.. I get nothing. I did searching online all day and have yet to find anything on this exact issue. By the way, the speedo, tach and every other gauge work just fine.

He most likely screwed something up while installing the headunit (happens a lot if you dont know what your doing) he could have shorted something out

The odometer readout is a function of the instrument cluster microprocessor. If all the instruments work except the odometer, the replacement unit is probably defective.

Okay sidewinder, I think I'm going to pick up a new gauge cluster and see if it fixes the issue. I appreciate the information!
