Shifting Question.

Just put an AW4 out of a 97 XJ into my 99 XJ.

The wires for the t-case all ripped out of the jeep when the t-case went down the highway. Don't have the speedo wire, the wire that says what 4wd you're in, and the other wire that goes to the t-case.

Does the AW4 rely on the speedometer to shift? Should i have any problems driving this thing?

I drove my XJ about 400 miles with no speedo drive gear and it shifted just fine. That is a 1996 year model. I understand the later years have 2 speed sensors one for the input and the other for the output. I do not know the year break for this and if it will affect gear changes. I am sure someone here could give you answer specific to your year model.
