Dana 44 ring and pinion set up

I'm installing a new ring and pinion in a Dana 44 in an 87 XJ. My tech info is from a 1990 Chrysler/Jeep shop manual, which has a section on Comanche Dana 44's used with the metric ton package(the axles are the same except for location of spring and shock perches). It calls for setting pinion gear rotational torque between 20 and 40 inch pounds when using new bearings, or between 10 and 20 inch pounds if re-using the old bearings. Any body know if this info still applies, or has it been super ceded?
