A few of us made the trek up to Evans Creek this weekend for a bit of a change up from the usual TSF trails. I've always loved the trails at Evans, and have been itching to get back up there. SpecFab and MnkyBoy, NW-ZJ-Scott, and myself all headed up Friday evening.

Drive up wasn't too bad. Took awhile to settle back into "road trip" mode with the Jeep. Heading through Wilkeson.

Pavement ends, and gravel begins. It was smooth sailing for most of the way, but then the pot holes hit.

I arrived to camp around 8:30, to find Scott just finishing with setup. We BS'd for awhile, aired down, plugged TORX's tire, cooked some dogs, and then Adam and Nathan arrived about 10:30ish.

The next morning we set out for the trails around 10:00. First up was the usual lower and upper 311. Poser shot at the viewpoint.

311 didn't take us long at all, so we cruised down the road and began the 196, 197, 198 combo. The guys quickly learned just how tight the trails were, and how off camber some spots can be.

We stopped for a quick lunch after the 198. From there we headed up to the 519. Adam coming up the face.

As we climbed up the 519 I started to cross a few snow drifts. They began to get deeper and longer the more we climbed. My bologna skin tires weren't cutting it so Adam busted through a couple, and then Scott took the lead. We ended up winching him up the last good drift.

After that Adam put the pedal down on Quad Trails and was able to bust through it.

Beautiful scenery.

We stopped at camp on the way back down for a quick bite to eat. Nathan discovered Adam's track bar bracket on the frame side was semi-float and ripping itself off the uniframe. Adam began the ratchet strap and vise grip repair. We then set off for the 520. Made good time up it when we hit massive drifts at the rock field.

It wasn't worth it to us to try and cross, so we headed back down the 198 to go play around in the Fish Bowl. We all ran a few lines. Adam was committed to making it up a pretty serious ledge when his rear drive line became the weak link (37's + 14 bolt). We called it a day and headed back to camp.

I had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed the wheeling. It's just what I needed. I definitely want to try and head back again later in the year.

here's my write up..

it takes 38 hours and 1600 miles to get to Evans creek from Portland..

There's a Creepy-ass one lane bridge that sneaks up on you along the way..

Once there, You realize you cannot buy firewood anywhere within a 40 miles..

and then its another 1600 miles to drive home...

I'm beat.. (But the jeep is ready for the drive to work tomorrow)

Sorry I bailed guys - work came up on Saturday, and I wasn't able to make it work out.
