So I've been out of the game for awhile and now I'm diving back in. Going to be a fixer-uper so I can DD it. Eventually I'll turn it into an off roader but not until I get my FSJ Cherokee. 1991-93 are my favorite years. I had a briarwood and sold it like a moron :twak: but press and move on.

STATS: 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 AW4 NP231 D30 front D35 rear (will get swapped before off-road stage)
PRICE: 800$ bones
GOAL: Dependable DD in under 2k$ total including price

I've begun building a list to deal with some of the issues. Its leaking out of the rear main seal and needs a new valve cover gasket. Oils coming from behind the trans between the transfer case also. Not positive but once I get some time I'll clean her up and hunt down the leaks. Brakes are shot so thats high on the list. Also the oil SMELLS LIKE GAS. Going to fix that before I even start messing with the oil gaskets.

PURCHASED: Full rear hatch 71$ - Stock Air Filter Box - 11$ Extra Throttle Body (for core when I get mine bored out) 22$ - Driver Seat Bracket (non powered :wierd:) 20$

PICTURES:

First time towing a vehicle. 2.5 hour drive there and back.

Home safe and sound

Random pics. Have to get the steering column pulled apart to replace the ignition cylinder. Someone tried stealing it apparently (clean title with the guy I purchased it from's name on it). Also has an insane battery drain issue which I'm thinking is the power antenna.

Time to clean up the garage now that I have a project again

Ok now that I have time to update. List of things I'll be doing first.

Oil Pump
Oil Pickup

TRANSMISSION/Transfercase:
Valvoline High Mileage ATF
Filter
Gasket
Eventually an in-line filter and aux cooler but that's for a later day

ENGINE cooling:
Water pump

New gear oil

ENGINE etc:
4 point fuel injectors
63mm throttle body
Open air filter
Brown Dog motor mounts since mine dont exists anymore

Crossmember and transfer case 'skid' pulled and soaking in degreaser. That was a pain. The small little bolt in the middle of the skid-to-cross just kept spinning making it very difficult. Oh and everything is covered in about 2 inches of oil/crap.

Transmission pan was dropped and pulled out. Left the dipstick tub in and just jacked up the front to pull everything out together. Now it's soaking in degreaser too. The trans fluid was pretty burnt up and black. I mean BLLLAAAAACCCCCCKKKKK. Bad oil type black. Tomorrow I'll be swapping the filter and starting the gasket.

Here's my idea on the gasket. Going to hit it with a small bead of RTV blue going AROUND the holes. Then I'm going to set it to the trans side and bolt it in with light torque. Once the pan is cleaned up ill bolt it up. Fill it up with fluids and run it for about 400 miles then drain and refill. Do it a few more times until its pretty and red.

You can also do the old school trans flush method. Pull pump side cooler line, run it into a 5 gal bucket, start up vehicle, and fill the trans while the old fluid comes out and do it until its nice and bright red.

Never heard of that. Def will look into it. Don't always have time to do a fluid swap so having to do it every couple days can be a pain and expensive.

I just picked up a 91 DD and a 92 that's going to be a trailer! Good luck with the update!

Trans pan/mount is in and no leaks!!! At least not so far.

All buttoned back up.

And some random pics of the floor rust I'll have to deal with eventually.

Ok got my steering wheel taken apart and waiting on the locksmith tomorrow to tell me if he can rekey my ignition. I did get my build sheet back. I thought I had a 35c but turns out its an 8.25. I barely glanced at it when I picked her up and just assumed the worse. Pretty sweet. Still dissecting the build sheet.
