I know my beer was cold but I don't know about my pattern

Here are a couple shots of the first pattern for my 8.8. I honestly don't see much of anything so maybe someone has some pointers. I kind of thought the pattern would show much better. If I had to guess I need to increase my pinion shim size a bit.

Backlash is .009

Ruined the bearing cage trying to take the damn thing off with my splitter. The old bearing on the old pinion came off so easy I figured it wouldn't be a problem getting the new one off the new pinion since I don't have a set up bearing, not so much.
 
Looks a tad deep now. Did you add shims to the pinion or just tighten up the backlash? The top pic is the drive side right? If so I would take about .002" out from the pinion and that should get you golden.
