I am rebuilding an AX-15 out of a 1994 4.0 liter.

The select fit snap ring that retains the 3-4 hub assembly cracked and split as I removed it.

Any one know where to source one? I have an e-mail into Rockland Standard Gear.

Thanks.

The dealer should have them. What thickness do you need?

Here's a list of the ones for holding the "synchronizer clutch hub #2, 3rd and 4th gear" onto the mainshaft, which is what you want:

8350 6086 AR Stamped A (X=1.80mm/1.85mm)
8350 6087 AR Stamped B (X=1.85mm/1.90mm)
8350 6088 AR Stamped C (X=1.90mm/1.95mm)
8350 6089 AR Stamped D (X=1.95mm/2.00mm)
8350 6090 AR Stamped E (X=2.00mm/2.05mm)
8350 6091 AR Stamped F (X=2.05mm/2.10mm)
8350 6092 AR Stamped G (X=2.10mm/2.15mm)

edit: morris4x4/jeep4x4center/quadratec may have them as well. I am not sure. DO NOT buy them from factorychryslerparts.

Struck out with Rockland Standard Gear, they said they could order it if I wanted 120 of them and would wait a few months.

My local Chrysler dealer said they are no longer available?

Any other sources?

Chris

I checked jeep4x4center and they actually do have them! At least, the first two thicknesses. I'm assuming they have the rest, too. They don't look like the part I remember being in that spot, though, so I need to double check that I got the right part numbers out of the catalog.

edit: nope, definitely the right part. Measure how thick yours is or check what letter it's stamped with and order em off jeep4x4center, they seem to average 2-3 dollars each. Not too bad.

Isn't the ax15 a Toyota Trans anyways?

It's not actually a Toyota transmission, unless it's also an Isuzu, Pontiac, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep transmission. Aisin Warner just makes them and sells them to a lot of companies.

The R150 series (R151F, R154F, R156F, etc...) are very very close to an AX15, you can bolt the same bellhousings onto both of them and swap input bearing retainers and input shafts to do unnatural things like put a GM 3800 V6 in front of a Toyota R151F using parts from a late 90s 4cyl Dodge Dakota that came with the Jeep 2.5L engine.

Or a Chrysler 5.9 Magnum into an Isuzu Trooper that had the 3.2/3.5 V6 using the bellhousing and input shaft from a 3.9L V6 Dakota...
