98 xj fuel pump unit

hi I was wanted to know if I could get some advice on a purchase of a new fuel pump unit I sure that all I need to do is change my fuel filter but if im going in I might as well change the whole unit and save my self the trouble of doing this job twice. Thanks for the input

I ended up putting in a Bosch pump from rockauto.com for around 300 bucks.

If you only want to do it once, buy the Bosch. Lots of horror stories about Airtex units. It's around 300 bucks to do the whole assembly.

Avoid Airtex like the plague. I've had better luck with an unknown junkyard pump then I have with 5 Airtex pumps.

The 1997-2001 fuel filter is not routinely changed as regular maintenance unless there is a fuel delivery problem.

Buy a genuine Jeep or Bosch fuel pump assembly.

I didn't see nothing here for a while maybe I was too inpatient but I did end up getting a Crown full fuel unit for about 200 bucks hope it works out better then airtex I did see bosh but they didn't come with the wire harness so I didn't go with it just cause I was waiting to hear something. But if this goes bad I know what to get next thanks again fellas

I used the OEM/Bosch unit from the eBay link. Exact pump I pulled out.
