Ok guys, have a doozy for ya.
My front output on the np207 blew the **** up,
Need to replace it. Kastein gave me a front Double cardan ( I think ) driveshaft that SHOULD be the right length...
But I have no idea what kind of TC output yoke to get to match, seeing that I have no idea what kind of shaft this is.
I know it needs to be 26 spline that much is sure,
But I am unsure as to whether or not I need a flanged yoke or whatever.
So I need to get this

To fit to this..... Somehow...

I don't have pull it junkyards around here, I need a specific part so I can get a new one or something. I know 231 yokes will work but there are so many different kinds I can't even beleive it so I'm kind of lost.

Get a 231 front yoke. Same dimensions and bolts up fine. I did this on my 207. Not sure on differences on later years, mine came from an early 90's.

You see those bolts you're pointing at?

Remove those. Then pull the entire shaft off the jeep after removing it from the front yoke on the axle.

I'm not sure if there are splines in that can that the output shaft is engaging or if that can is bolted to another flange that needs to come off or what but one way or another you need to get all the junk out of there and just have the output shaft of the T-case showing.

Once that's done just slap a 231 front yoke on there and bolt that shaft up after replacing the U-joints and the centering ball (if it's shot.)

That is indeed a double cardian shaft you are holding.

I'd wire wheel down the shaft and repaint the thing while it's out because why not?

Another GKN shaft bites the dust ;)

IIRC, they stopped using these in '87. So for ordering purposes, I would go with model years '87-'93. You will also need the bolts that go though the DS into the Yoke. They are a different size than the GKN ones.

I'm not sure if all 231 front yokes are the same from '87-2001, but I would almost bet on it.

Ok, so pretty much all I could find was Omix-Ada part number 18676.37, Which is the output for a 87-95 YJ wrangler. This was the only one i could find that i know has a flange. Hopefully thatll fit. Thanks for your help guys.

Also, to rebuild this shaft all I should need is 3 1310 ujoints, right?

Update. Got the new yoke, it doesn't match up with the hole on the shaft, far too wide.
The holes on the driveshaft measure 1.5" x ~2 3/8" center to center, the yoke measures 1 5/8"x 2 7/8" center to center. Grrrrrr it's sooooo freaking bad not having a goddam pick and pull around here. Guess I gotta return the yoke now

You do NOT want a YJ front yoke - it has tapped holes that are spaced for a ujoint strap, because a YJ front shaft is single cardan at each end and the ujoint is held into the YJ 231 front output with the same straps and bolts as it is held into the d30 yoke with. You want an XJ/MJ/ZJ/TJ front output yoke, I believe. I know it'll fit that shaft, just not sure if it'll fit the transfer case. From what others have said, it will.

The threads in the cv end of the shaft I gave you are 5/16-24 UNF, make sure you chase them with a tap before installing it. That shaft was sitting around for long enough I guarantee they're full of rust and gunk and you're going to have a very bad day if you try and put a reduced-head CV driveshaft bolt into them without cleanup.

Do you happen to have a part number for the yoke?
Literally that one was the only yoke I could find that actually gave a description to fitting a 231.
I want to destroy my local junkyards, freaking greedy bastards

I don't, but let me look it up real quick.

edit: 4798 120 is the Chrysler part number for it. Should fit a million years of XJs/MJs/ZJs, Morris4x4 has them for $50 brand new: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/front-output-yoke-np231-4798120.html but you should probably try the NAC classifieds one more time and see if someone has a blown up 231 they are tearing apart before spending that kind of cash. Factory parts catalog says that'll fit 94-96 XJs and ZGs (ZG = ZJ Euro spec) even though Morris4x4 says it won't. The factory catalog says it'll fit a 52099212 tagged NP231, which I know I have in my MJ off a 99 XJ, so I think you should be fine with it.

Years of pawing through factory parts catalogs, junkyard scrounging, and trying to bolt things together that never should have come to exist :gee:
