popping/ticking noises in the engine after i cut the ignition

I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what is causing a popping/ticking noise in my engine. Anyone know what it is? I usually only hear it after i cut the ignition, but yesterday i replaced the torque converter, and as i turned the engine by hand i heard the ticking. whats up?

93 xj 2dr been a daily driver for a loooong time, but now have a commuter, so i have time to build the jeep up properly.


I don't yet know how to make a signature, so i'll come up with something cheeky after i figure it out.
