Radio shuts off while driving

Ok check it out.

Im going to be headed home starting tomorrow, and had a problem before I left last time out that every time im driving and had the radio "Stock" on, it would automatically turn off. "Completely power off" I noticed if would shut off more if I had my head lights on, or when using my turn signals. I was thinking it was a short somewhere or even a grounding problem, as I know thats a problems with our jeeps.

Question is where do I start looking first?

I really just hope its the radio going bad as I wanted to change it out anyways.

You could check pretty easily for a grounding problem by attaching a wire with alligator clips to some part of the radio's chassis and to a convenient point on the car's body. I'd start there.
