shock question

hi forums i just got a 1996 jeep xj with the up country package and i'm planning to lift it but for now it need new shocks. and i was just wondering if i could buy lifted shocks now and then buy the lift kit later.

No, you will bottom them out and destroy them...

If you don't wheel it, those shocks will be fine. Shocks don't move more than a few inches on normal street driving.

i have those shocks on about 5" of lift. i wouldnt run them at stock height. buy them now if you want, but i wouldnt risk destroying my $200 investment because i couldnt wait to install them.

FWIW... id advise buying your shocks last. install your lift, cycle the suspension, and measure for properly fitting shocks. ive destroyed 2 of my RE shocks by either bottoming them out or over extending them.
