my factory radio in my 2000 xj is about to take a crap. anybody know the years the plugs changed changed or if there the same. I'm talking all jeep models. I find a good deal on a 2007 jk radio, was wondering if it's same connector.

These factory original Chrysler radios will probably fit any 1997-2001 XJ Cherokee. Anything else, not so much.

•1998 - 2001 Chrysler 300M
•1998 - 2001 Chrysler Concorde
•1998 - 2001 Chrysler LHS
•1999 - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
•1999 - Grand Cherokee Laredo
•1998 - 2001 Dodge Intrepid
•2000 - 2001 Dodge Neon
•1998 - 1999 Eagle Vision
•2001 - 2002 Dodge Caravan & Grand Caravan
•2001 - 2002 Chrysler Town & Country
•2001 - 2002 Plymouth Voyager
•2001 - Chrysler Sebring
•2001 - Dodge Stratus
•2001 - Dodge Durango
•2001 - Dodge Dakota

Hmmm. That list isn't so correct.... Idk about the autos but the WJ's years listed Minivan, years listed Dakota, and years listed Durango radios will not fit an XJ.

93-98 Grand Cherokees
I think second gen Dakotas
First gen Durangos
91 (or) 92-95 minvans
Certain year of full size trucks and vans.

In all seriousness though don't pay more than 10/20$ for an OEM radio. Any more than that and you can get a better sounding aftermarket radio.
Craigslist, and someone parting out a Jeep can be your friend on this. Hell If I had a good one I'd let you have it for shipping....

Best bet is to buy something aftermarket and the adapter bracket/harness.

The factory CD player died in my 98 Limited awhile back. Ebay is always a good option for replacements. I ended up finding the exact head unit on Craigslist. I bought it for $20 and put it in.....been working great ever since.

Any Chrysler Product radio will fit and work if year appropriate. I am running the single CD, cassette, AM/FM unit from a '98 Town & Country mini Van. Plug perfect and paid $15 at the local pull and pay. All it needed was a cleaning.

I installed the radio and the self dimming rear view mirror the same day. Both parts from the same donor. As I was installing an OHC as well, grabbed the Ambient Temperature Sensor and it's connector at the same time as well. I grabbed the sensor connector as I just assumed the existing XJ connector would be corroded from being exposed to the elements. It was.

At any rate, everything bolted up and works a charm. Just have to love multiple platform parts sharing...

07 JK will not. It is a radio without a 12volt turn on wire, it's turn on is data bus. Any Chrysler radio with this style plug (2 clips one grey one black with a ground on the radio)

will plug in. Weather it fits in is a different story (notice the radio I posted has 4 bolt holes) but I feel most of Chrysler's radios were din and a 1/2. On our jeeps (I have a 00 aswell) there are only 2 bolts that hold the radio in. I know tjs, wjs, and kjs used radios with 4 bolts and at some point swapped over to the 1 plug Chrysler connection.
