The shifter for my manual transmission is evidently worn as the stiffness of a new boot will push/pull the shifter out of 1st and 3rd gear. My question; is this indicative of something in the transmission that is worn or will replacing the shifter correct the problem? I cannot find an exploded drawing of the tranny that includes the shifter linkage with the tranny. FWIW, 88XJ with BA 10/5 manual tranny.
