Replacing just PART of a door seal?

My driver side front door has 2 damaged areas, 1 where one's feet drag in n out at the bottom and 1 right behind the driver's armpit. Both are about 5" long.
Rather than replacing the entire door seal, would it be okay to cut out the damaged sections and glue in new sections?
I probably wouldn't glue the seal itself that the door crushes but the harder part that presses into the body.
Not overly concerned about watertightness just wind on the mountain.

Also what kind of adhesive would be best?
Thanks all for your input!

Sure you can just replace the section of weatherstrip
that's needed. I have used 3M weatherstrip adhesive
(yellow death) in the past. You can probably get it
in black too.

I cut the repair piece to length, put some windshield washer tubing in the inner hollow part so it overlapped out each end. Slide it into place and glued the ends together with contact cement. Got to be careful with contact cement, no second chances or shifting it around.

I've also done small areas with silicon, covered the door edge in grease put a blob of silicone into the scuffed area and shut the door. May not look pretty but it works and seals up the air leaks.
