4wd tail housing

To convert from 2wd to 4wd requires a new output shaft as well as Xft case adapter housing(replaces the tail shaft housing).
The problem isn't sourcing the parts, the problem is rebuilding the transmission. 'Whole thing has to come apart to get the new shaft in. You end up spending more on labor then a good used trans costs. Easier to buy a 4wd trans and sell yours off then it is to have the 2wd converted.

If you have a '99 4wd trans, you already have what you need. The basic trans is similar for all years. Confirm you have matching electrical connectors and you can just swap the whole trans out.
"Four wheel drive" (or part time 4wd, aka "Comand-trac") and "All wheel drive"(or "full time four wheel drive" aka "Selec-trac") use the same transmission. The difference is in the transfer case.
