looking for some information about early and late model cherokees. I have a 98 cherokee and a guy down the street is parting out a 92 and i need some interior parts. I know the interiors are very different but i remember the seats looking the same, would the drivers seat be a direct bolt in?

I think they are? If I have read threads right, they are. Do a search and the answer should show up

It should, I believe they are different style. Just get pedistal from the floor with the seat.

tried a search here, also tried google. found nothing but grand cherokee seat swaps haha.

No, they are not the same, but they could be swapped with some work. Difference in the floor pans/seat mounting shown in this thread:

I think to be a bolt-in swap, the donor needs to be 95 or newer.

Hubs97xj, the post you linked is for Grand Cherokee seats in a Cherokee (XJ). I think from looking at my 2000 & 1987 the floorpan looks simmular, the most you should need to do is redill some holes if they don't line up. The seat may also be able to be bolted to the OEM pedistal in your Jeep. I will try to double check tomorrow.
