I recently purchased a 1996 xj 2 door 5 speed with 154k for $600. I'm replacing the clutch in the ax-15 and contemplating a lft. My question is what is envolvd in lifting my xj? I only want 3" of lift as this will be my dd. I'm on a tight budget. Mostly just gonna do some easy trails and mud, nothing extreme. Thanks for your help and look forward to starting a build thread!

You have many options available.

There are plenty of 'ready to go' lift kits at price points that are very affordable.

Basically, coils, add-a-leafs, and shocks are mostly what you need. Other issues like track bar and brake lines may come to be but you can address those as they happen should you piece parts together. Complete lift kits will most likely advise what other parts/issues you may experience/need.
