Flattening Cab Pinch Seam For Sliders

I recently purchased some Trail Gear sliders for my MJ. The only issue I have with them are the legs, they are the same 1 3/4 diameter as the sliders themselves. When butted up to the pinch seam there is about a 1 inch gap between the rocker and the slider. Would it be okay to flatten the seam a little just to close up the gap some? I will also be welding some flat stock between the legs to bolt the sliders to the seam. Thanks

it should be fine as long as you are not cutting through spot welds. just grab the BFH and have at it.

The sliders I have (rigid aka rigidco) require knotching out a small 2" section for the legs to tuck up into, But the slider's lowest hanging spot is flush with the pinch seam also
