I have a 95, with an NP242 and recently installed a front axle with an aussie locker. Is this going to be a problem for the 242?

No, just don't run it on pavement in 4 wheel.I have been running locked F/R for a couple years now.

2WD and part-time 4WD will work the same as an NP231.
In full-time 4WD, power shifts between rear and front driveshafts. When the torque moves to the front, the change in loading will make an auto-locker want to engage.

I'm thinking that a 242 with an air locker might be a nice all-around setup.

Yeah, a selectable locker with the 242 seems like a win/win.
