So i bought my first xj a couple months back and I recently did a cluster swap and ever since I installed the cluster it says its running hot. The needle is usually barely below the line before the red. It runs great Im just worried I could be killing my motor. I was wondering if anyone had this problem. Could it be the gauge? I need some advice before I start throwing money at the coolant system.

I did the cluster swap and had to get the temp sender from the dealership. All the parts house senders I got read around 30 degrees high.

Confirm actual engine temps with an Infrared Temp Scanner pointed at the thermostat housing.

So I took it to the dealership and had them test the thermostat housing with a infared thermometer and it showed 190 and my gauge showed what I think is 230 it was close to the red line. The new sensor comes in Saturday. Thanks guys I appreciate it.
