My transmission is making a grinding noise when and only when I shift into second. Usually the noise stops when the engine is warmer or I shift at a higher rpm. It is a 2000, 4.0, 5-speed manual. I dont know if my transmission is going bad or I need to replace the bushings or what, any help would be appricieated. Thank you.

does it still happen if you double clutch it?
have you ever changed the fluid? if so, did you use the proper type?

I have had great luck with redline MTL, the PO put gear oil in mine, which eats the syncros.
There are others here that swear by running mobil-1 engine oil, but I can't remember what weight they were using offhand. Try searching AX-15 fluid,
in google.
