Renix 4.0L - Donor Fuel Pump Qs?

I have a fuel injected Renix 4.0L in my 1988 MJ buggy,
And I'm getting ready to locate a donor Jeep fuel pump assembly
to drop into an aluminum 12 gal fuel cell.

Will any year XJ fuel pump assembly work? Is there a difference in fuel pressures
in the pumps throughout the years/styles of pump assemblies?

Could I use a YJ or even a TJ pump assembly?

Any help would be great

Does it need to be in tank? Most of us use an external pump.

My girlfriend bought me a new YJ pump assembly from Crown (good luck finding a YJ with a tank in a JY around here...).

Used it in an RCI2161 similiar to how the YJ guys do it. Mounted it in the bed of my MJ. I never had a problem with the reliability of the stock pumps, and I can get one at any auto parts store easily.

Works just fine for crawling with no pickups. I always keep it over 1/2 full though.
